After an injury induced layoff for Mike Gardiner, both Mike and Paul Fenton were keen to make the most of the Britcar night race at the end of the season. With the Britcar field being joined by a number of British GT runners looking for an end of season run out the competition was always going to be fierce.
With Mike qualifying the car on the outside of the front row the start as darkness fell lead to a frenetic exchange between the team's Viper, the Barwell ASton Martin and the LS1 powered Marcos of Topcats. Initially the Viper lead but immediately a light issues manifested itself. The car was fine in normal running but bumps and kerbs caused the lights to dip themselves making driving very difficult. This has not been revealed in the limited twilight qualifying.
Mike hung on to second place until an early safety car lead to most of the field pitting. Paul took over and unable to hold off the Aston settled for third place. So a podium finish to end the season. A number of spectators commented that the sound of the Viper in the night still seemed to echo around the historic Brands Hatch after the last laps.
