Snetterton at the end of October provided the first opportunity for the TVRCC series and the Tuscan challenge to be run together as a single race. The event proved to be a pilot for next season’s combined races. Regular driver Kevan Gore was joined by series returnee Dave “Death or Glory” Reynolds in the team’s Cosworth turbo powered Tasmins.
Qualifying went well with Kevan matching his pace from previous rounds and Dave re-acquainting himself with driving after a one year break. All went well until a nervous moment at the end of the qualifying session when the drivers decided to take the notorious Coram corner side by side. As there was pretty much nothing else on the track an "off" would have been embarrassing for both drivers !
In the race Kevan got a great start overtaking two of the far more powerful Tuscan Challenge cars. Unfortunately this enthusiasm went a bit far when on the next lap he tried to add a third to his take. Running out of road and managing to miss the ubiquitous “field” at the end of the straight, Kevan encountered the tyre wall, bringing out the red flags. The restart also resulted in a red flag when two cars collided on the grid due to a stalled Tuscan causing chaos at the rear of the grid. In the restarted race later in the afternoon, Dave became isolated and with nothing to chase or be chased by was content to bring the car back in the condition that it started the day in. A good result in one way or another!
