Brands Hatch, 7th August 2004
With Pat Smith on holiday and senior Silverstone instructor Simon Mason standing in, the team headed to Brands Hatch in a positive mood on a sunny morning.
Without test time Simon Mason finished second in qualifying to line up on the front row with Simon Bowes. Moore Racing supported drivers also qualified 3rd (Steve Lewis), 4th (Kevan Gore) and 6th (Dave Reynolds).
The race was decided by the third corner with Simon Mason driving alongside Simon Bowes around the first two corners (Paddock Hill and Druids), by the left handed Simon got his nose in front. From then on Simon Mason could hold off the Griffith where he needed to and although never comfortable took an impressive win through experience. Steve Lewis finished third to retain his series points lead.
