Britcar provided support to The A1 Grand Prix weekend at Brands. In front of near-capacity stands the Class 2 Honda Type R of Moore Racing was in action with drivers Coulson and Hinklehoffer fighting their way through the grid to score vital championship points. Close racing from the start saw Coulson battle with rival Hondas and Clios in the opening laps, taking both cars into paddock to post his fastest laps of the weekend. At the driver change the car was in 24th position overall and as Hinklehoffer maintained track position the pair emerged a creditable 4th in class.
In a weekend which was full of controversy over pit stop timing amongst many of the teams, spirits were later dampened when officials decided that the car had been at rest for 4 seconds short of the 60 second compulsory stop at the driver change point. The resulting penalty dropped the car to 8th position.
With the disappointment behind them, Hinkelhoffer started the second race in the middle of the pack. A spirited drive promoted the car to a class 5th place which was maintained by Coulson following the driver change. The championship is only three races old and the team goes to Snetterton next weekend sitting in 5th place in Class 2 and with more to prove.
