Oulton Park - Britcar 27th May 2007

Britcar headed North to Oulton Park for a double points scoring compulsory round. Qualifying passed off uneventfully in the hands of Hincklehoffer and Coulson who were at the track early to ensure they were fully prepared mentally and physically for the rigours of the challenging Oulton Park.

With the weather changing rapidly the team opted to form up on the grid with Gary Coulson at the wheel on a dry track with wet tyres. Had the start been five minutes earlier this would have paid off handsomely but as the green flag lap completed the majority of the cars headed into the pits as the heavens opened. With a wet delayed start declared Coulson opted for caution ahead of valour and turned in steady laptimes. Two early safety cars kept the pack bunched up and the Civic Type R in class contention. At the very end of the pit window Coulson dived into the pits to hand over to Hincklehoffer. Hincklehoffer only got to complete one flying lap as he headed out onto his second lap which was clearly going to be a blinder and set a record for the car around Oulton Park before the race was abandoned due to worsening conditions and a number of cars off in dangerous positions. The Civic Type R completed the final racing lap in 3rd securing the final podium position. This raised the team to 2nd in class and 5th overall in the championship.
