With a car that had been a road car only six weeks before, expectation management was the order of the day. The one full test day of running for drivers Mike Gardiner and Paul Fenton had been washed out so there was not time to set the car up for the race weekend, which consisted of a 1 hour race on Saturday and a 2 hour race on Sunday.
The Moore Racing team more than met expectations by delivering a car that was reliable and reasonably competitive. In both races the lack of set-up time meant that the eventual winner had an unassailable pace. All in all, a great result with 2nd place in both races which realistically was the best that could be achieved on the day.
The Honda Civic Type R, driven by Andrei Bgatov and Gary Coulson, also had a successful weekend with the recent converts to endurance racing bringing the car home and gaining significant experience racing in this format. With this under their belt both drivers are confident to push on and regain the podium place achieved earlier in the season. Again the reliability of the Honda and high level of preparation proved an effective way to deal with faster but more fragile competition.
