Britcar at Brands Hatch 2004

Moore Racing's second Britcar 2004 race. BMW E36 M3, Brands Hatch, 03 April 2004.

With Andre Tautz and Paul Fenton sharing driving duties. Friday testing delivered well matched times that were competitive with the front running Class 2 cars. Very much encouraged by the progress made in setup the team bounded into qualifying. Changing conditions and a need to conserve tyres led to a lowly P13 overall and P7 in class.

Bouyed by this progress and the knowledge that many other cars had a quick and a slow driver the team whiled away the early afternoon with pit stop practice. Andre took the start and steadily worked his way up into P9. Finding no easy way past the yellow M3 in P8 he bided his time until he could slip past into Druids.

Unfortunately a speculative lunge form the car just passed appeared to make contact with the Moore Racing car causing a lurid slide. Both cars spun into the barrier, with light damage sustained to the Moore Racing car. Sadly the wheel arch was in contact with the wheel which prevented Andre continuing. A case of what could have been then unfolded as many Class 1 and 2 cars dropped out with mechanical problems.
